Welcome to the Riverside Museum Project’s blog. See what’s been happening behind the scenes since the Museum of Transport closed. Follow our conservation, curatorial and decant teams as they work towards the creation of the Riverside Museum.

We want to show you what’s going on inside the Museum of Transport as Glasgow’s transport collection prepares for the move to Riverside. We’ll publish photos of the museum’s decant as often as we can.

This blog also aims to show you the wonderful job our conservation team is doing in preserving the collection, whether it’s cleaning fragile ship models or restoring steam locomotives to their former magnificence.

Posts from curatorial staff will reveal the some of the research that is going into Riverside. From archive images from World War I and film footage of the Queen Mary’s launch to eyewitness accounts of a motorbike crash, it’s the curatorial team’s job to ensure that the Riverside experience is as rich in detail as it is broad in scope.

And in between these posts, we’ll bring you snapshots of the build from our project photographer, updates from the design and construction teams, and the latest news from the Riverside Museum Appeal.

You can also find us and the museum’s fundraising appeal on Facebook and on Twitter.
