Glasgow Humane Society boat bound for Riverside

leave a comment »

Missed this short film about the Glasgow Humane Society when it was aired on BBC News last month …

Officers of the Glasgow Humane Society have been saving people from the rivers in and around Glasgow for hundreds of years. One of their rowing boats – the Bennie – is coming to Riverside Museum where it’ll help tell the story of the Glasgow Humane Society. The BBC report focuses on the Bennie’s last day on the Clyde and her removal from the river.

The film also features George Parsonage, whose father Ben built Bennie in the 1950s. Since then, it has been credited with helping to save more than 800 lives.
